Vans themselves are a bit healthier for yr feet than 99 9% of Nike Adidas etc shoes, because they have a bit wider toebox and zero heeldrop Though not as good as Altra or Vivobarefoot, and others There are some brands making more naturally fitting shoes for basketball and skateboarding too now, though i can't remember the brands

If you want max comfort from a relatively flat shoe, go for Altra I have a pair of the Altra Torin 6 Cheaper than Vans UltraRange, better neutral arch support, way more cushioning, same 0" heel drop, wider toe box for even more comfort, did I mention that they're CHEAPER than the Vans UltraRange? Love them I'll never wear Ultraranges again

The main difference is the thickness of the fabric Vans tend to be more padded and have generally more overlapped layers while converse are still pretty much a couple layers of canvas with a padded rim sometimes I think both shoes are great and wear both they wear similarly (vans tend to feel a little more snug)
