In my experience from around 1994, I had access to lots of HD media and primarily used a DD drive in an Amiga Covering the HD hole was only necessary if I was putting the disk in a HD drive (e g format the disk as MS-DOS for sharing between Amiga and PC), but in general HD disks worked almost 100% of the time

In PC stuff, the use of the hole for density selection is a mess In AT-compatible systems, pin 2 of the floppy connector interface is a signal sent from the floppy controller to the drive It will be low level if the BIOS set the floppy controller to DD operation, and high level if the BIOS set the floppy controller to HD operation

another thought if you have a library near you, you can check out a manual, like Haynes those should have the info you need if your library doesn't have the year and type you need they likely have a process where you can request they procure a book where I live they do and it works and saves buying a book I might not ever use again you just need a title and author, etc good luck

I am installing a HD side mount license plate kit on my 2012 Super Glide This is the same kit that is pre installed on the 2012 Wide Glides Kit purchase thru HD Dealer The kit has a 'fender hole cover' to cover the existing holes left by the original license plate bracket

Just switched out the HD syn-3 oil from my 88tc to Redline heavy shockproof syn in the tranny gonna see if shifting is affected,not that their was a problem, just thought the tranny should have more of a gear oil I gonna leave the crankcase and primary syn-3 and run it for awhile and see how it all works once it finally gets warm here in ptld

So, back in June one of my local HD dealers fixed an oil leak on my '96 Sporty 1200C that they thought was from my transmission which in fact was from a wrongly routed transmission breather hose They changed all the transmission seals I should mention that this was after about 6 weeks and two time in the shop
