- Fabric wall covering choices (DMD versus GOM versus GIK)
I'm guessing something like DMD is more transparent and therefor better for putting in front of speakers, and that GOM is in a similar boat (at least SOME kinds of GOM since I have seen measurements showing some GOM is more transparent than other kinds of GOM) Which brings me to a question: GIK offers their in house fabric by the yard as well

I used on-wall speakers for sides and rears, housed in framed columns and covered in GOM I don't have any pics with the track in place The columns are 8" deep from the wall to the front face of the framing, plus 1" of track My speakers are 7" deep, so that leaves us 2" between the GOM and front of each speaker

I used GOM, chocolate color for fabric, behind it is 1" semi rigid fiberglass insulation for sound absorption The comments by uscmatt99 are similar to my experience, though I left the track very tight, and have not had to re-tension once yet

I had some GoM in the last theater I built, I forget the style but it was acoustic fabric and the weave was tight and complex enough that it didn’t show anything underneath I wrapped the walls floor to ceiling, did 1” furring strips vertically every few feet, placed 1” oc703 fiberglass in between, and wrapped a panel of fabric over it

You could use rigid fiberglass and skip the 2' x 4' back Just make the frame around the fiberglass (and probably attach it to the frame) and wrap in GOM Spacing it off the wall (or a wider frame to hold the fiberglass away from the wall) like Vince suggested will help with lower frequencies
