The stock 1406 config should be fine for a bone stock engine Have a look at the colour of the plugs to get an idea if its running rich or lean The other thing to check is that the throttle linkage opperates in its full range by foot as opposed to by hand That can make a big difference if you can only get 2 3 throttle but think its full throttle

Johnpro is correct on the difference in the metering jets - I always thought that the 1405 1406 were the same, then I noticed in the Edlebrock literature that the #1406 is calibrated 2% leaner than #1405 The step up springs are different, too - 1405 uses the orange spring, 1406 uses yellow I am not sure of the difference of the size of the

Looking for guidance on a linkage solution for a 1406 on my 68 302 I purchased an Edelbrock Ford kit #1483 with the carb thinking that the kit would provide a means to connect my stock throttle arm with the 90 degree jog directly to the 1406 linkage However, the pics show this kit doesn't provide a means to attach the arm

Correct, That is the set-up I have on my other 68 running the 1406 Edelbrock I looked at the M2008Vs600 of Summit, I did not like the dual gas line set-up, I would have to redo the gas line from pump and the brackets I would have to buy to make it work for me
