The ONT connects to the fiber optic cable run from Ziply, converts it to Ethernet, and presents it at an Ethernet jack You then connect an ordinary router to that jack If your "modem router" box was left over from DSL, then it would have contained a DSL modem, which is only used for DSL service over copper wires

I wish I could report the same reliability I have been a Ziply Fiber internet customer for years, and in the last year there have been constant internet interruptions I have spoken to customer service multiple times and it's always the same run around When they do send a technician out to my place, the technician does nothing

If other Ziply users have a working Nest Protect (which several claim they do), then Ziply isn't blocking anything There is likely something else going on The OP should run through the steps in the Google doc Having done that, and since it's a Ziply-supplied router, I'd call Tech Support 1-866-947-5995
